I've never drawn wolves before. They have a very different shape than dogs and the eyes are too human...it will be a challenge to make them unique and not look like I'm trying to make them human.
OK so Seb Funk is going slow. The art is easy but I'm having trouble finding my voice. I'm going to start a new project and see if that loosens me up. Yaoi style Gay romance with Druids and Werewolves. Light and easy with lots of eye candy.
So Super Duper number six is out. I did the art on the back up story by Tony Smith so run out and pick this up. If you are in SF they have them at Whatever on Castro. Thanks Brian Andersen....Bye eeeee.
I'll be penciling the riot scene this weekend. really looking forward to it. I'm not usually an action drawer, but this is coming naturally. I will have to come up with a new way to draw smoke as well. After years of drawing art nouveau style for Teleny and Camille I am loving this stuff.
The new Boy Trouble is coming out soon. All color this time with all great cartoonists. This is a class act and not to be missed. I have a short piece in it so see us at APE and I'll keep you posted if there are any parties.
This character wasn't working for me until I made her a white sex kitten. Now she's jumping off the page for me and writing herself. These two have their own story and I'm excited to see how far I'll go with the music/sex addiction.
I'm going camping this weekend so I'm just going to dump a whole lot of images at the same time. At this point I have the first eight pages of Sebaceous penciled. The first eight are always the hardest for me but after that it runs. These posts are from my sketchbook. I will light box them to the pages later so you are seeing images that will eventually become panels if not the final artwork.
Time to feed the blog so it gets big and fat. My sketchbooks are packed and bloated with images that I'm itching to get down on the actual pages. I'm really loving the freedom of this new process (thank you Gaz)
Just to recap. The Sebaceous Funk is my new graphic novel I'm working on. Set in a futuristic San Francisco there is a cult of Charles Mingus that has no technology past the year he died which is 1979. Muscle cars, afros and jazz. Outside the wall are the Rosicrucians who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a lost piece of music Mingus was experimenting with that can knock women up. A jazz piece called "The Sebaceous Funk"
I'm sorry for the delayed post. The creative part of my brain was burned out from over use. G and I finally did some sketching and I worked on Ephram trying to get the look down.
